Woher stammt der Name „Jeans“?<\/h1>\n

Der popul\u00e4re Name der beliebtesten Hose der Welt geht zur\u00fcck auf den ehemaligen Hauptausfuhrhafen f\u00fcr Baumwolle: Genua, frz. G\u00eanes. Der von dort verschiffte robuste Baumwollstoff ist seit dem 18. Jahrhundert f\u00fcr Arbeitskleidung, seit 1850 f\u00fcr Jeanshosen verwendet worden. Charakteristisch f\u00fcr den Stoff ist die K\u00f6perbindung (nein, nicht „K\u00f6rper“), bei der ein schr\u00e4g verlaufender Grat zu erkennen ist. Aha.<\/p>\n

Und wer hat\u00b4s erfunden?<\/h2>\n

Der Levi war es. Levi Strauss<\/a> (1829 – 1902) wanderte 1847 mit ein paar Ballen Segeltuch, aus denen er u.a. Latzhosen f\u00fcr Goldgr\u00e4ber anfertigen lie\u00df, nach San Francisco aus. Als ihm der Stoff ausging, setzte er in seiner Hosenmanufaktur auf noch strapazierf\u00e4higeres Material: Baumwolle in K\u00f6perbindung, aus der im 15. Jahrhundert gegr\u00fcndeten Baumwollmanufaktur N\u00eemes (Namensgeber f\u00fcr das Synonym „Denim“). F\u00fcr seine Jeanshose (inkl. Kupfernieten, G\u00fcrtelschlaufen usw.) erhielt Levi Strauss sogar ein Patent.<\/p>\n

Erkennst du den schr\u00e4g verlaufenden Grat? Das macht die Jeans aus. Ihre charakteristische Webtechnik nennt sich „K\u00f6perbindung“. Ohne „R“.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u00dcbrigens: Einer der Webf\u00e4den (die Kette) wurde bei der Verarbeitung mit der \u00e4ltesten Naturfarbe Indigo (seit 1880 auch chemisch herstellbar) gef\u00e4rbt und gab der Jeans bzw. Denim so die beliebte Farbe.<\/p>\n

Wie kam die Jeans eigentlich nach Deutschland?<\/h3>\n

Nachdem die Jeans<\/a> in den USA in den 1930ern von einer reinen Arbeitshose zum Freizeitlook erweitert wurde, kam sie nach Ende des 2. Weltkrieges mit den amerikanischen Besatzungssoldaten nach Europa. 1949 produzierte Mustang<\/a> in der Stadt K\u00fcnzelsau bereits die erste deutsche Jeans. Also schaut die beliebte Hose bei uns gerade mal auf eine 68-j\u00e4hrige Geschichte zur\u00fcck. Daf\u00fcr hat sie aber schon ganz sch\u00f6n viel Aufsehen erregt. Oder?<\/p>\n
